- Do I have to pay to attend your programmes?
Many of our short events are free although we do charge for longer programmes. We try to reduce fees wherever possible for those on low incomes.
- Do you have a regular newsletter?
Yes, you can opt in to our email newsletter free of charge.
- Does it cost anything to register?
Signing up for our newsletter is free. We are currently revising our membership packages and will publish the costs shortly.
- Are you a registered charity?
No, we are a non-profit organization with a remit to serve the community. We work in close collaboration with the Centre for Volunteering and Community Leadership at the University of Central Lancashire, where we are based.
- How can I support your work?
We welcome whatever support you can give, including moral support. You may wish to become a member of the Freire Institute, join one of our learning programmes or other activities, sign up for our newsletter or contact us to see about volunteering your time.
- How much do I need to know about Paulo Freire?
You do not usually need to know anything about Paulo Freire to participate in our programmes since most of our programmes are not about Freire as such but simply inspired by his methodology. The exception is when we do occasional workshops or study programmes on Paulo Freire’s work in particular, when some background reading would be helpful. If you sign up for a Paulo Freire workshop you will be advised about recommended reading.
- Are you a Christian organization?
The models and approaches used in our work have their origins in the work of church-based bodies around the world, thus we have a broadly Christian ethos. However, the content of our courses is not specifically Christian other than when specifically requested. We do not seek to proselytize and our programmes are open to people of all faiths and those of none. By arrangement, we do offer a programme tailored more particularly for Christians and church-related workers called Inspire.
